Word from the Local Secretary.

As I extend you all a warm welcome to our midst next August, I know that you will be visiting a very beautiful and unique part of Wales.
It is also appropriate that I inform you that each winner at the Trials will return home carrying a very special trophy. Anne Smith, the glass designer who lives and works at Rhiw, one of Llyn's picturesque villages has been commissioned to produce an unique trophy for the event.
In addition to this, the Champion Shepherd will receive a sampler, just as unique, of the famous stanza to the Sheep Dog, composed by the poet and farmer, the late Tom Richards, Llanfrothen. This is being presented by the poets' grand daughter, Mrs Catrin Jones, Crugan, Llanbedrog.
The young shepherd achieving the highest points will receive a shepherd's crook, made especially for the occasion, the craftwork of Mr Arthur Wyn Jones, Llanbedrog.
Their generosity confirms that the people of this peninsula have not only responded magnificently to our call for their support to our fund raising activities, but that they have also been prepared to walk the 'second mile' with us. This generosity originates from the heart, a generosity that our committee sincerely acknowledges.
Therefore, since the people of Llyn have responded to the task of staging this year's National, I trust that the sheep dog fraternity will respond by coming here en masse, to enjoy this district and its hospitality.
